Regulations

Updated 19. 10. 2003 / 14. 11. 2004 / 1. 4. 2006 / 4. 3. 2007 / 4. 4. 2007 / 12. 6. 2008 / 18. 5. 2009 / 25. 12. 2010

1. Orchestral membership

Rather than attend an audition, prospective members may get to know the orchestra – and vice versa – by regularly taking part in rehearsals. After about six rehearsals, s/he will then meet with the respective principal player as well as a member of the orchestral council to discuss the following points:

  • technical level
  • musical ideas
  • communal aspects
  • goals / wishes

and, ultimately, admission into the orchestra. If there is any doubt regarding admission, a longer trial period may be agreed upon (e.g., through the next concert), after which a final decision will be made. Those involved in the discussion will take into account the thoughts and impressions of the other orchestra members before making a decision. In all cases, the artistic director has the power of veto.

This procedure is explained to all prospective members at the beginning of their participation in the orchestra.

2. Program Group [dissolved on May 31, 2008 ...]
The Program Group is responsible for compiling the concert programs. It is responsible for the selection of suitable pieces, the procurement of the sheet music, the setup of the music for the current orchestral ensemble and its copying. Program suggestions from the orchestra should be considered and the orchestra should be involved in the decision if possible. Members of the program group are currently: Adam (hr2), Carsten (vl1), Frank (vl1), Gudrun (kb), Scott (dir) and Tobias (pos).

Since June 1, 2008, the conductor has been responsible for designing the program – but after consulting the orchestra council.

3. Orchestral contribution
A monthly fee of 5 Euro is charged to cover ongoing expenses. Reduction to 2,50 Euro is possible for low income (students, "unemployed" etc.). Those who join the association concentus alius e.V. only pay the membership fee of currently 5 or 2.50 Euro per month..

4. Audio / video recordings
Recordings of our concerts will take place, if the financial situation permits. This has to be decided before the concert by the board of the association.

5. Orchestra council
Tasks:
1. To be the link between conductor and orchestra.
2. To be the contact person for concerns (e.g. questions, suggestions, problems) coming from the orchestra.
3. To support the association's board in its organisational work, e.g. planning, advising and deciding on orchestral issues in consultation with the conductor. In particular
